Meatloaf Stefanie: Main dish with mince and veggies

Before telling you more about this main dish, I would like to share some interesting facts:

  1. This recipe exists from the 5th century, probably from Roman gourmets
  2. It is spread to the European nations and almost every country has own variations
  3. In Denmark, it is called mince roll "fake rabbit" and it is wrapped with bacon
Meatloaf Stefanie

The meatloaf Stefanie is a classic delicious recipe and suitable for more guests. The roll is easy and fast to cook, unfortunately, it needs to be garnish with mashed potatoes or a seasoned salad. You will need to cook it for 70 minutes and the recipes suites perfectly for 12 servings. 

Ingredients:

  • Mince - 1kg 
  • eggs - 4
  • old bread - 2 slices
  • onions - 2
  • carrots - 4 
  • pickles - 4 
  • savory - 1 teaspoon  
  • salt - 1 teaspoon 
  • parsley 
  • cheese - 150 grams 

Instructions 

1.Preparation of the products:
  • Boil the carrots and the eggs for about 10 minutes 
  • In a bowl put the mince add the salt and other spices. Then soak the bread slices, crush them and add them to the mince. Add one raw egg.
  • Chop the onions and parsley. Add them to the bowl.
  • Add a little bit of water in the bowl. Mix all the ingredients in the bowl. 
  • Cut the cooked carrots and the pickles into strips
  • Peel the boiled eggs and cut into halves. 
2. Take aluminum foil and place it over a flat surface. Spread the mince over it in shape of rectangular, 1 cm thick. In the middle arrange a row of pickles, carrots, and eggs above them.

3. Now it comes the hardest part - rolling.  Do not try to twist the roll because it will break. Roll the mince as thigh as possible. 
4. For baking, I will recommend you to take the oven tray. Bake the Meatloaf Stefanie in preheat oven at 200 C for about 40 min. 
5. The meal is ready. The last step is to put some grated cheese on it and leave it in the hot switched off oven for 5 minutes until the cheese melts. 
6. Serve the roll sliced and as I mentioned above with garnish like potatoes or season salad.
